Tuesday 3/31

The transition from being on campus to coming back home has been difficult. You have freedoms and responsibilities that are hard to maintain once you are home. I have never had to go to school online so the first week of doing so was a new experience. Remembering when assignments are due when you haven’t had to do anything for the class in a week gets tough. Having to take a test that is 80 questions but only being given an hour to do so is challenging. Overall my opinion of the transition so far has not been a positive one.

I preferred being on campus because I got accustomed to being there. I made friends and established relationships that are hard to maintain when you could be five or even ten hours away from that person. If you have trouble with an assignment, it isn’t as easy as seeing your professor after class for help anymore. You could send countless emails about a topic and by the end of the conversation still not understand it the way you need to for the exam.

Aside from the school work, the freedoms we had from basically living on our own were taken away too. All of the on-campus students at temple chose to leave home to have a new one. Being forced to come back all while doing the work that used to be more hands on is upsetting.

The country is in quarantine and we are urged to stay inside. It gets boring when the only thing you have planned for your day is a zoom meeting. Even the friends we do have at home can’t be reached due to this. I also never realized how much I liked going to work until I was told that I’m not able to do so anymore.

I miss Temple and I miss my Temple friends. I hope that by August, everything is back to normal.
