(HW 3/31) Leaving Temple was a letdown to say the least. Despite it being stressful I enjoyed being on my own and living in the city. Classes ended on a Friday, and I started packing my stuff that night. The next morning my mom and stepdad drove up from our house in Media to help me move out. I remember thinking on the way home, “damn this shit is serious”. To be honest, I had doubted that things would ever escalate to the point of a state of emergency.
Once I arrived home I greeted my sisters and step sister and went to my room to begin unpacking my stuff. I wondered how the online classes would work and what the implications of the pandemic would be, though I was confident my family would be fine. I opened my window and took in the beautiful silence, that was only broken by the chirps of crickets and birds. I did miss how there was no noise pollution back home. In the following days I got my old job at CVS as a front store associate and signed up for DoorDash and Instacart. I hungout with old friends and did a lot of driving, and of course attended my classes via Zoom (which had a good amount of issues).
In the beginning of April I had a medical marijuana consultation with a doctor over FaceTime. I sent him documentation that qualifies me and I was approved, then I received my card after a few days. Now I’m a legal smoker, which is kind of weird after being prosecuted by the state for what is now my medicine.
Aside from that I’ve been on quarantine. My phone broke, which didn’t really matter because I was staying home except for going to work anyways. So I got my weed card, a new phone, and that’s pretty much all that’s new. It’s kind of depressing being in the county again but I’m excited to move back to the Temple in August.
