How will the coronavirus pandemic change the way we live going forward? I wish I could have the right answer for that question, but unfortunately I can’t predict the future. What I can say is that I think once the pandemic is over, some people will still take extreme precautions in their daily lives. Others on the other hand will most likely go back to social gatherings without a care in the world. If a cure has been made then it would drastically change how society would react to the aftermath of the pandemic. I think the first week will be the craziest because so many people are anxiously waiting to be released from their stay at home orders. The bars, malls, and restaurants will be filled again, but the question is by who? I feel like older adults will slowly come back to their normal reality without a rush, but younger adults will immediately jump right back into things without hesitation (my friends included). I hop on twitter and see countless tweets of people saying they can’t wait to leave their house, which seems to give me an idea of my theory. I do believe businesses and society will implement more good healthy habits to ensure another crisis like coronavirus never happens as severely like it did.

Many people currently lost their jobs and had to file for unemployment during the pandemic. I hope everyone can get their old jobs back or find new ones when this all ends. I don’t think the stimulus check was enough to amend the damages, but hopefully everyone is still managing. The economy will slowly start to bounce back which is a positive, but many negative outcomes from the virus will always linger in our minds. Many loved ones have passed, senior years and sport season cut short. Although certain measures had to be taken for our safety, surviving to see the end of the pandemic is most important.

Information online have suggested what life after the coronavirus will look like. “Businesses can and do (over short time periods) hold on to workers that they don’t need immediately: they want to be able to meet demand when the economy picks back up again. But, if things start to look really bad, then they won’t. So, more people lose their jobs or fear losing their jobs. So they buy less. And the whole cycle starts again, and we spiral into an economic depression. (BBC)” An interesting quote relating to the influence of businesses having on our economy. If what he said is true then there are worse things ahead if the virus doesn’t end soon. On the other hand, If you are a movie fanatic you might already know what is about to be said. “Every sector of the entertainment industry is on pause.” (Ryan Broderick) Due to movie theaters being shutdown and social distancing, many movies have been pushed back months from original release date. Many films have stopped productions leaving actors jobless as well.

Some positive outlooks that seem to be in the making are advanced technology using drones. An article discussed that there is a high demand in the drone industry that could be a benefit to our lives. “In the case of Covid, this could mean automating many systems at scale, delivery drones and disinfecting robots marking a mere humble beginning. There are already examples of NGOs using drones to carry medicines to remote locations with impressive precision. (Carin Ism and Julien Leyre)” The last information I wanted to highlight was family life. Since many families are stuck inside together I wanted to know what impact this has caused on their relationships. As I was looking through the web I found a lot of positive insights. “Some parents say the break from their normal routines has freed up time to play outside with the kids — something they hope to keep up.” “Some families tell us they hope they can stick to cooking at home more often.” “The U.S. divorce rate plummeted during the Great Depression and the 2008 financial crash.” (Erica Pandey)
