I took a walk around my neighborhood and all I found was grass, I wanted to write about something that actually means something to me. A flower that I don’t need google to identify, but simply just looking at it I know a whole lot. I did do some research and it turns out that it symbolizes friendship, loyalty, and good fortune just to name a few. To me it’s just a flower with many meanings, including memories.
When I see the yellow,
It reminds of the sun

It reminds me of light rays
That hit my skin on a summer day
It reminds me of warmth
Of love, of being free
It reminds me that everything will be just fine.
The yellow of the sunflower brightens my day
Like a toddler when given ice cream
On a hot summer day.
Its beautiful soft leaves
Activates the sense of touch
That I once thought I didn’t have
It brings a smile to my face
When there is a “resting b*tch” face.
I remember when I was younger
There was a lady that sold flowers.
She would walk through the streets with her daughter, buckets on their head filled with beautiful colors.
She would shout my mom’s name
Which translates to ‘Sun Angel’
Another reason why I love the sunflower.
My mom would walk up to her with sparkling eyes, and she would obsess over every single flower she would be selling.
She would use her senses.
With her big eyes she would look at the colors
With her soft hands she would touch the petals
With her fine nose she would smell the flowers
And with her ears she would hear the crunch of the dry leaves at the bottom of the bucket.
Despite all the flowers, she would always choose the same one.
The Sunflower.

Sunflowers are one of the easiest to identify flowers and maybe one of the simplest ones but there’s always an interesting reason why people say it’s their favorite flower. For your explanation, there was so much to absorb with how you described the various things about such a simple flower. The way you described what it reminded you of and how it felt like a warm Summer day and how the name translates to “Sun Angel” are very nice thoughts and helped me imagine them.

The picture looks so nice, sunflowers are one of the best flowers. I like how you took idea of what you already knew about, and found out what it meant more. The way you explained how a lady always came up to your mom, and she would always pick a sunflower. It fits well with what you wrote about.

I like that you used a sunflower because it is one that everyone can name. I personally like sunflowers for all the reasons you named. They’re vibrant and the way you described it just put an emphasis on it. I also appreciated the story you tied it too. Very nice piece.
