I really miss sports,
In basketball, the squeaking from my shoes on the court,
A thunderous dunk from the pros on TNT,
Or messing around with friends in H.O.R.S.E to see who will get the final ‘E’,
I miss talking trash to my friends face to face,
Sitting inside, the time I’m surrounded with feels like a waste,
In the times where I need a distraction the most,
I just have video games waiting for a new server host,
C.O.D is fun, but I compete better in a social setting,
People that gamble turn to the weather forecast for betting,
So I sit and think, each day I do the same,
Wondering when this will stop, so I can play a 5v5 game,
Stay inside for now, it’ll make it better in the long term,
And wash your hands for 20 seconds to get rid of the germs.

The rhyme scheme ties this piece together really well and I totally relate to a lot of the feelings you expressed throughout your writing. The feeling you get playing a sport you love with your friends is something so wonderful to hold onto even though it makes this time of social distancing that much harder. The lines about gamblers betting on the weather and the squeaking of your shoes on the court are so creative and poetic. Video games may feel like a short term solution to this situation but until everyone is allowed to get together again I’m sure it’s better than nothing. I also like the slight humor you included in the title and how it set the tone for the rest of the piece.

Your title is classic. I agree with everything you said. I miss the homies, sports, playing sports, etc. I’ve also been just playing C.O.D with the guys to at least have some time with them, but yea I also would prefer a social setting. Hope this all goes away soon. Stay safe!

This is great cause most people overlook just how crucial social interactions are for humans. Humans are social beings at heart and face to face interactions cannot be forgetting about. Overall though the flow of the poem is just on point. It just goes from sentence to sentence in a perfect way for me. Good job and many truths.
