to me this picture is a disheartening illustration of gentrification. I am guilty of damaging the community that was around north Philly, the house on the left is where I’m living next year, using money I received from a loan granted to me by my father’s credit. theres nothing more symbolic then a condemned church, a figure of hope and faith taken away by college students. this is the ugly side of Temple that everyone is too aware of, but not bothered enough to care.
