I don’t know much about science or space, but I like to believe in the theory of the multiverse. I believe that somehow, somewhere within the infinite universes that exist, there is a world where discrimination doesn’t.

A world that has figured out a way to live peacefully without racism and violence.

A world where the news isn’t saturated with headlines that read of mass murders, police brutality, and school shootings. Children can go to school without having to be taught the proper way to barricade the door to their art room or take a moment of silence everyother morning because another kid their age was shot. Teenagers go to college without having to be warned about walking 2 blocks in the “wrong direction.”

I believe in a world where history isn’t “written by the victors,” but rather collectively composed through compromise and compassion, because there they recognize that ALL people are equal.

There are no “bad” neighborhoods or “good” neighborhoods, just friendly neighborhoods like the one Mister Rogers always talked about. Parents can let their children leave the house with the greatest risk of injury being them tripping over an uneven sidewalk because they were staring at their phone.

Diversity is celebrated, love wins, and everyone is in charge of their own body. Every race, religion, nationality, and gender are welcome in any country because no one is going to tell them they aren’t welcome.

I believe that somewhere this exists but somehow, regardless of how great people claim the human race to be, this isn’t that world and we shouldn’t be so naive as to think that it is. My inner optimist would like to believe that someday we will be able to get there, but for now it just feels like a long whinding path blocked by blindly stubborn ignorance.
