Meet Taylor Holmwood, a 19-year-old freshman at Temple University. Born on November 10, 2000, Taylor has the astrological sign of Scorpio and the moon sign of Taurus. Taylor has 3 brothers and shares the same initials as her dad and one brother, TSH. She loves spending time with her family and loves nature, which goes along quite well with her possible major as she is undeclared but is leaning towards Geology. She is very fascinated and eager to learn more about the earth itself and the history, movements and all the solid facts that come with geology. Taylor is excited for this spring semester at Temple and overall has really liked the diversity and city life that Temple provides, unlike West Chester and Saint Joseph’s which are schools she applied to as well. In regards to this semester, she is particularly riveted with her one class dealing with mental health, as she is very intrigued to learn more about it. Taylor is originally from Norristown, PA but then moved to Devon, PA where she went to Conestoga High School and played soccer throughout and enjoyed doing community service and still does. This directly correlates with her participation and joining of ‘Spark the Wave’ which is a leadership camp that empowers and trains the next generation of leaders. She appreciates a lot of what they do and was very grateful and proud of the experiences and projects she accomplished at the camp.
Trey was born on July 21st 2001, making him astrologically a Cancer with a Leo moon, and a rising sign in Virgo. Originally Trey intended on attending Gettysburg college after they had recruited him for football. After deciding he would much rather focus on school than sports, he was set on Temple University for finance. He was introduced to the world of finance through his current roommate, and his interest in the versatility of business school. His love for sports is evident through his education. He hopes to go into the sporting industry post graduation, and still finds the time to play a game of basketball or two in his free time. He is very much goal and relationship oriented as he goes home each weekend to work, and spend time with both his family and his girlfriend. In highschool Trey played on the basketball team, the football team, and was second chair viola in the orchestra. He did not care for the fine line between athletics and the arts, often apparent in high schools, and actively chose to blur it. He was also involved in numerous community service opportunities, giving him a wide range of friends and a heart of gold. Most importantly, Trey is not a morning person.
At the beginning of this semester in English we were all presented with a project where we were required to get to know someone within our class, that we did not know. I feel this is a very good project because it requires you to branch out, but it was also hard to talk to someone and ask them questions about their personal life when they are not one of your close friends. Despite how anxiety provoking it might of been at first, overall it was a very positive experience. My partner was- Vinnie, and after getting to know him I was shown he is like many of my friends, and someone that I would love to have in my life as he would be a great friend. I was shown he has many talents such as singing, dancing, acting, and so much more. My whole life I have always aimed to be someone who is so multi-talented like Vinnie. I admire people like him for their strong drive to find things that interest them, as well as the motivation they have to have in order to learn and follow through with all these amazing talents. Due to his strong interest and talent within the music education field, he strives to have a future where he can teach music to others. He realized this is what he wants to do in the future due to the positive influences of teachers he has had in the past who always made him feel comforted and welcomed in their classrooms. He wants to be like his teachers from his past to his students in his own classroom, and spread the same type of welcomeness and comfort. Outside of the music field, he works and has dance practice and he described himself as someone who is always doing something. While talking to Vinnie we discovered we shared a common curiosity- astrology. Vinnie shared with me a lot of new information and it was very interesting. On a personal level I was shown how hilarious Vinnie is, and he reminded me a lot of my close friends at home which was comforting. He loves to laugh, and he also made me laugh a lot as well. His sense of humor, kindness, interests, and goals for himself are all things I would look for in a friend. I am happy that I was pushed out of my comfort zone, and I was shown while doing so you can meet cool people like him.
